A Luther Burbank Attack

I love this time of year because so many colorful flowers are in bloom. This morning glory, which I started from seed, is brightly adorning my windowbox.

Also started from seed are lobelia and nasturtiums, two blooms I enjoy every season. In fact,I used to plant nasturtium seeds in my tiny garden plot in Portland, Oregon when I was in elementary school. That's a lot of years ago.

Perhaps the most wonderful plants I have in my garden are those I can eat, as well as enjoy looking at. These cherry tomatoes are perfect for picking and will be in my salad tonight.
I am out in the garden almost every day, clipping and puttering while Winnie and Cleo oversee my work. Yes, I seem to have a little Luther Burbank in my soul.

  1. You know nasturtiums are edible, yeah? Also, I'm wondering if you've ever had problems with morning glories. I've read that they're poisonous to kitties, but generally Muff doesn't go around eating our plants. They are so lovely. I'd love some in our yard.

  2. Ooooo...I didn't know that about morning glories. Thankfully, my kitties are safe; the ancient one barely moves and the youngsters are house cats.
